Linda White-Epps, Founder/CEO – Sisters’ Journey Linda White-Epps is no stranger to the devastation of cancer. Linda is an eleven year survivor of breast cancer and gives of her time tirelessly in the fight against cancer. Losing a loving aunt and significant person in her life to cancer is the force that compelled Linda to start a support group/organization to aide other women diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition to a Support Group, Linda went on to start the “Sisters’ Journey” annual calendar which highlights twelve women of color that share their stories and experiences encountered during their journey to survivorship with cancer. In the beginning, the calendar was focused toward women in the Connecticut area only, but has grown to reach women across the country and as far as India and Africa. Linda has received numerous awards for her advocacy and outreach to humankind. One of the most notable has been receiving the “Points of Light” award in 2002. This award, recognized by the President of the United States celebrates the success of volunteers across the country, while spotlighting the impact that various individuals have on their communities. Linda strongly believes and promotes that women should” be advocates of their own bodies”. She displays this belief as a living example by sharing with others, her own experiences, challenges, and successes in her personal ongoing journey with cancer. Linda serves as the breast cancer lobbyist in Washington D.C. for the American Cancer Society. In addition to her endless work in the area of advocacy and breast cancer, Epps also has a voice in the political arena as the Councilwomen at Large for the Hamden CT area. Ms Epps is the proud mother of two children, Mrs. Dawn Bracey and George “Gee” Epps and two grandchildren, Donovan and Dominique. She resides in Hamden, CT.
