"Sisters’ Journey" by Larry Poncho Brown 2002’s Pink Tea celebration was one of the most spectacular events sponsored by the organization. Nationally renowned artist Larry “Poncho” Brown was a featured guest at the Sisters' Journey's Annual Pink Tea 2002. Mr. Brown was commissioned to create an original painting entitled “Sisters’ Journey” for the organization by II Sisters Art Gallery of New Haven, CT. The unveiling of the original was well received by the guests of the event where commemorative prints were available for sale as a fundraiser in support of the organization. Mr. Brown was inspired to create the image after personally being touched by breast cancer in 2002 when his mother was diagnosed with the disease and unfortunately lost her life to complications from an operation to correct the disease two months later.
In honor of Breast Cancer awareness month, both Mr. Brown and II Sisters Art Gallery are extremely honored to support an organization whose mission is to enlighten women of color about the importance of early detection and swift treatment for breast cancer. Reproductions of " Sister's Journey" are available for sale for $75.00 (plus $9.50 shipping & handling) and are a limited edition of 850. Proceeds will benefit Sisters’Journey. Make all checks payable to Sister's Journey, P.O. Box 6267, Hamden, CT 06517
